Lowe TSQ augers are commonly referred to as tree bits and are designed for planting trees.  Lowe makes tree bits where the first foot of flighting going into the ground is half the overall diameter of the bit itself.  For example, a 24″ diameter tree bit will be 12″ for the first foot of auger flighting and then step up to 24″ for the remaining 2 feet of auger flighting.  Tree planters prefer this style bit as to make room for the root ball of a tree and loosen surrounding soil for the roots to expand.  Carbide points and teeth are available for the Lowe TSQ tree bits and are the same as the Lowe SQ standard bits.  Lowe TSQ tree bits and Lowe SQ standard bits might not have the same number of teeth equipped, for example, an 18″ SQ bit has 6 teeth and an 18″ TSQ has 8 teeth.
